You should now be at a stage where you are starting to finalise your solution, ready for the upcoming technical Specification - the section where you specify all of your final design decisions.

Here are the things you should show consideration of as you finalise your idea:

> Have you reviewed and answered all the points from in the List of Master requirements?

> What do you need to finalise in order to make it a commercial/ marketable product? (Part of this will include marketing/ branding which we will look at next).

> How well your final idea has evolved from systematic design, testing, feedback and evaluations?

Your final idea should:

> Be the best, most refined idea it can be (optimisation and DFMA considered)

> Meet all the points in the List of Master Requirements (was this technical

   enough?)

> be a result of progressive/ iterative design

> be approved by your stakeholders (this should have been evident as part

of the journey and not an add on)

All decisions about this final design should be justified/ supported (by stakeholders and research) and should be well communicated. You could present this as a table  of decisions or a well labelled drawing.

Assessment criteria says - Final design development
Exceptional progression from earlier developments and all of the identified opportunities and requirements have been met.

Assessment criteria says - Critical thinking
Clear, systematic and highly effective responses to all identified problems. Exceptional evidence of innovation throughout the design process.

Assessment criteria says - Chronological progression
Design iterations are highly professional, systematic and chronological, fully supported by exceptional real-time evidence.

Assessment criteria says - Final design - Quality
Formal presentation of the final design solution(s) is exceptional and provides strong impact and appropriate clarity to a third party.

How do you know what to 'tweak' for your final design?

Have you considered what the final proposal:

> will look like?

> will be made of?

> how it will be manufactured?

> how it will be used?

> how it will be stored?

> how it will be repaired?

> How it will be dismantled?

> How it will be . . . . . .

> how it will be marketed?

> how it will be packaged?

> How it will (insert key points from your Lomr's here)
